Seeking God's Will and Direction

There comes a time that facing the will of God is the answer. We are so sure of ourselves that at times we allow that to give us direction. We forget to acknowledge God as the head of our lives. In our efforts to follow we forget it is Him we are to follow, not our own inventions.

God is the source and needs to be the center of our direction at all times. We must see clearly when our efforts shift to not being His and becoming ours. This may not be as clear as we would think. As we learn Gods direction, we jump ahead and rush down the path that we think is correct without knowing the plan. We try to use our knowledge to go where we think God would have us go, believing we know Gods will without ever asking Him. Just like our own children jumping to conclusions assuming they know what we are about to say. How often do we do that with Gods direction in our life? We assume that this must be the direction He wants us to walk. Then when God blocks the way we start to assume our faith is lacking or God does not answer our prayers.

In a sense our faith is not working but not because God is not faithful. It is because we are not faithful. We forget to seek His guidance and we refuse to place our plans at the feet of our Lord and Savior. Then if we do place our plans at His feet are we ready to accept the possible rejection of those plans? Our plans may not be what God wants for multiple reasons. But no matter the reason, the growth of our faith is dependant upon our willingness to trust Him. Do we have the strength to give everything to God? Do we have the strength to accept His direction? Can we accept the rejection of a plan that we see as noble and essential to our needs? Are we willing to follow even it means leaving our plans behind? Jeremiah declares to us that God knows the plans He has for us.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I hope that Gods will is always at the center of our life. I pray that we realize that the discernment of Gods will should not be taken lightly but sought after with a fervent heart, diligent spirit and humble prayer. Holy is the name of our Lord and to Him belongs all the glory and praise!

The ad at the end (in this case, 5 tips for a flat stomach...) stands in stark contrast to the message of the article...
